where is the advance VOIP Settings for e 72? GO TO CONTROL PANEL THEN WHAT? I DON'T SEE ADVANCED VOIP SETTINGS!

It works like a charm over Wifi. If you turn on WCDMA somewhere in the settings you'll also place calls over 3G.

My experience with voip over Vodafone NL 3G GPRS/HSDPA is very bad. Connection setup works, but sound quality is a disaster.

Has anyone a positive experience with Voip E72 over 3G?

I haven’t tried it over 3G as I only get 3G 10% of the time here in the UK and I have a concern that it Vodafone could charge me for the data.

If you have managed to register the SIP account then you should be able to make calls. If you go to an entry in the address book – choose a number – choose call you should be given the option for “internet call” in addition to voice call and possibly video call.

I'm seriously considering buying the Nokia E72, however I have one concern. You mentioned that for me to use VOIP, I should have the S60 3rd edition and on nokia.com it says that E72 has S60 User interface. Will I still be able to use VOIP with it?

Ive just been on holiday and using the VOIP to ring home from the hotel wifi was superb. I had actually taken my SIM out and put it into n old "dumb" phone because there was no simple way to stop data roaming. The quality could be variable depending on who else was using the bandwidth but it was quite usable

Are you sure you downloaded the S60 3rd edition and not the 60 5th edition version - the interface on the download site is not the best

@Sean & @Seb: it is correct; the download interface at Nokia is not the most friendly. There are 3 scrollable versions. Take the one with "3" in it.

Thank you for this post, it helped guide me in the right direction.

Currently I have an asterisk with a public IP address, an E71 and an E72.

The E71 registers to the asterisk over 3G and WIFI fine, it can call and be called via voip.

The E72 so far is a handful, I succeeded having it register on the WIFI, but am having problems drifting from WIFI to 3G.

The routing is correct, since automated "Advanced VoIP settings" part created a new destination and the destination holds WIFI as first option and 3G as a second.

The WIFI was added by the automatic installation and I added the 3G packet data of my provider.

What happens is that while on wifi the phone is registered, the minute I turn off the wifi the phone moves to 3G, SIP registration is still fine (from new 3G IP), but if I try to call the sip extension I get:

SIP/2.0 415 Unsupported Media Type

Its the same 3G provider as the E71, same asterisk, same sip config.

Did anyone also have problems with E72 SIP, specifically over 3G?

I had problems with 3G too. My E72 registred but dont authentic the voip account. My voip provider is Talky in Brazil. I am angry with Nokia: i think that it killed the device, with has HDPA and HUPA, because pressure from operator. I a going use the software from Talky.

Sean - you are a hero. I could get the SIP and VOIP working per your guide. But it just worked once. The SIP profile is showing "unregistered now" though I have not changed any settings.

I am a bit rusty on the E72 VOIP stuff I'm afraid. My E72 keeps dropping the connection to my wifi router so I don't use it.

I should be installin a new router soon to see if that makes a difference

download sip setting symbian 3rd addition from nokia forum and install it on memory card,because i too faced the same problem before but finally when install it on memory card it work well,atleast i can find it in net settings,it will be appeared in this way :advance voip setting,just register ur required sip and u can see that it will show registered,but even after this if u try to make internet call it will ask u to activate so and so sip voip service and when we try to activate the service it will never never activate i really dont know wats the actual problem,it is shocking that nokia did not give voip client pre installed in e72 while in case of e66,e71 we easily find the sip setting and internet phone setting.

It is the first time I post a message here and would like to initially thank the valuable information contained on this site.

After learning much about the necessary settings got some progress recently.

My experience is primarily with 3G, so I could achieve some progress by making some adjustments:

Activated the "WCDMA" in the settings to activate the 3G;

For the record I will quote an excerpt posted above: "My experience with voip over NL Vodafone 3G GPRS / HSDPA is very bad. Connection setup works, But sound quality is a disaster".

Yes, the sound quality was a disaster ... but then went on the configuration of codecs and did some tweaking ...

1 - excludes some codecs, leaving only three;

2 - left the G722 codec (AMR-WB), which made some internal changes: the first item changed from 200 to 100 and selected all the options of selecting frequency, leaving only the last cleared (none);

3 - the other two were the G711 codec (A and U);

They were following:

1 - AMR-WB

2 - G711-u

March - the G711-

With this, the sound improved a lot.

Sorry if my English is not reasonable, but tried to help in any way.

Me and my friends are using Voip using Nimbuzz, but cause you can't save 2 Voip settings at once (using "Calleasy" for a destination and "12voip" for other) I thought it might be a good idea using this site's procedure, after a very hard time I didn't succeed at all :)... my bad, but reading all the other comments here, I wanted to ask if I'm missing something?

Using Voip from Nimbuzz is extremely easy setting it up (with a success), what do you achieve better than Nimbuzz using the method mentioned here?

Hi people, in E72 after the new firm upgrade, even after installation of SIP settings the Adv.Setting does not appear. The work around which i found is to use the Gizmo profile and edit it as per my SIP settings and then use it. It works!!!!! Viola!!! Incase of any question..Please feel to ask me...

Thanks to Google and Nokia, I have a problem again

Gizmo5 is acquired by Google, and now there's no "service" available for me in "Net settings". When I choose "Download", no service is found, so there is no "Advanced Settings" as it was there before.

I've configured and registerd in SIP server properly, and I can even connect to SIP server and use it using a third party client, but the native client no longer works for me.

Now that I removed Gizmo settings, there's no way to fix it, because the company itself is now lost in Google world!

I should mention that I'm using the latest firmware.
